WP1 - Functional Annotation Assays – NMBU
To develop standardized functional annotation approaches and implement them to generate functional annotation maps for Atlantic Salmon, rainbow trout, common carp, European seabass, gilthead seabream and turbot, representing healthy status for a range of life-stages and tissues. Standardized methods for collecting and processing biological samples are essential foundations to deliver comparable functional datasets. By developing such approaches together with standards for data recording and storage, WP1 will enable raw data generation compliant with FAANG standards that is comparable across species and experiments. This applies both within this project and in other functional annotation projects, including those funded under the Agri-Aqua Labs call.

Develop standardized and optimized lab protocols for generating functional annotation data Establish guidelines for sample collection and data curation Perform standardized wet-lab training of the project partners tasked with raw data generation Prepare BodyMap and DevMap sequencing libraries from the six target species Links with other WPs Raw sequencing data generated in Task 1.4 will be analyzed using bioinformatics protocols generated within WP2. WP1 datasets will support WP5 by helping to identify candidate functional variants in existing QTL regions, and feed into WP6 as a basis for comparative analyses. WP1 interacts with WP7, as all standardized protocols generated will be shared through a dedicated AQUA-FAANG website. |
