WP2 - Bioinformatics and data analysis (EMBL-EBI)
WP2 aims to establish and coordinate standardized bioinformatics tools and data processing to identify and characterize functional genome elements in the six selected AQUA-FAANG species. This will generate a set of benchmarked pipelines to be applied to all datasets produced in the project, avoiding redundancies, standardizing metadata, creating new and useful ontology representations and optimizing synergies across the AQUA-FAANG consortium. Further, this will ensure that all data is formatted to be maximally useful to the research community through EMBL-EBI resources. WP2 represents a point of integration with other FAANG related projects worldwide, including those funded under the Agri-Aqua Labs call.

>
Achieve high-quality Ensembl whole genome regulatory annotation for all generated functional annotation data.
Achieve high-quality Ensembl gene annotation and homology prediction for all AQUA-FAANG species.
Manage project data, its visualization, and its contribution to development of sequence ontology.
Deliver training on computational analysis of functional annotation data.
Links with other WPs
As a hub for bioinformatic activity in the project, WP2 has broad links with other WPs. All functional annotation datasets generated including the BodyMaps [WP1], DevMaps [WP1], ImmunoMaps [WP3], as well as functional data generated in WP4 and WP5, will be processed through WP2 pipelines. WP2 supports WP6 by providing tools and data supporting comparative analysis. WP2 interacts with WP7 by supporting dissemination of expertise through training actions. WP2 interacts with WP8 as the Data Management Plan will be managed in liaison with the Project Executive Board.
